Traffic: Fort Carson Road is one of the busiest highways in the state of Colorado. At present, it is one of the major commercial roadways in Colorado with approximately 14 hundred trucks using it every day. Due to its high volume of traffic, it is usually quite safe for all travelers. However, there are some major drawbacks of this road such as: the highway gets very crowded very quickly; Fort Carson is also located on a busy route so the travel time could be delayed even for a few minutes. Another major problem in traveling on this road is the fact that one needs to use the exit on the westbound lane for the exit.
Weather: The weather in Fort Carson always varies from sunny to rainy and then to snowy. Snow is one of the main attractions in winter because of the impressive natural beauty it presents. However, it can also be quite cold. There is normally no special traffic plan for summer season since it never gets really hot or cold. The best time to visit here is from October to March.
Fort Carson Road: The main commercial area of the city is located on the northern part of Fort Carson. It has lots of restaurants, bars, banks, motels, hotels and other businesses which provide a lot of employment for the people of Fort Carson. There are many good schools and colleges located nearby as well. Therefore, the importance of this road is great. However, it can get quite congested during rush hours. It can also get very slow during lunch time.
Amenities: Parking is available in plenty in this road. Therefore, it is no surprise that it has one of the highest parking counts in Fort Carson. One of the main roads that intersect this road is Pikes Peek. It is also one of the major commercial arteries linking east Denver to the south Denver. The road is generally in good condition. However, there are some minor problems on the left side of the road between Eastbrook Boulevard and Greely Boulevard.
Fort Carson Airport: This airport serves two different major functions. First of all, it connects the Denver International Airport to the rest of the country. Secondly, it connects Denver to Las Vegas. Because of these two important purposes, this airport has one of the best road and weather conditions in the metro area. While traveling through the vicinity of the airport, you will find that the roads are fairly safe and smooth. You will also find that the traffic here is quite heavy.

Road conditions are constantly changing due to climate change. A few years ago when I lived in Arizona, we had a serious problem with mud and the highway was so bad you could not see far. People were getting hurt every day on the road and it was so frustrating. Recently my husband came home from work and told me about the mud and terrible road conditions. It was awful! No one was able to get their car out of the mud because it was stuck together!
There are many other things that I have noticed that affect our road conditions. I live in New York and have driven through four states that have severe snow and ice storms. Each of them was horrible. Wind blows where it is cold and ice forms in the middle of the road. The only way I have been able to get through these states is by traveling slow and stopping and letting the road conditions come to you. Some of them are not that bad; but definitely annoying.
One of my friends in Florida has had a serious problem with ice and road conditions. He went out one night to test it and his car got stuck in the snowbank. It was difficult for him to get out because the ice was so thick. There were no tow trucks around to get the car out and he had to walk for miles. Thank goodness he is strong!
Recently I went to Georgia and met with the weather man. He explained to me that it was the thawing of temperatures that is causing all of this. We all know that it is cold out there now, but when the temperatures start to drop we will have more road conditions like this. Snow can make everything so bad on the road. It is much better to be prepared before this happens.
One of my friends in Florida has taken this issue very serious. She has invested a lot of time and money into getting snow tires for her car. She also has taken the extra precaution of putting ice guard guards on both cars and the front of her car. This makes a huge difference! Without the proper tires on her car, she would have been stuck in the middle of the road in the dead of winter. That could have been life threatening!
In Georgia there are some roads where you will always have to drive over a minimum of 3 inches of snow. I am sure it is not very enjoyable to drive over those surfaces. The only way to drive over these types of roads is if they are absolutely necessary. For instance, you are in a situation where you have several cars that need to travel over ice covered road. This usually happens during the day, when the roads are slick from rain. You can expect to have to go over roads like this during any part of the day.
Other road conditions that are usually not pretty are dry leaves and oak trees. These trees are often wiped out by heavy winds and blown by high winds. When this happens you often have a huge mess on your car. Especially if you do not have the right tire pressure.
Just because there are some terrible road conditions does not mean that you should never try to drive over them. Even when the weather is not good, you can still drive around. Just be prepared for what Mother Nature decides to deliver!
Fort Carson – The Community That is More Than Two Miles of Mesquite
Fort Carson, located in Colorado is a United States Army base located in El Paso, Pueblo, Fremont and Huerfano Counties, Colorado. The main urban area of Fort Carson is located approximately fifteen miles west of the City of Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado. It is also near San Antonio.
Fort Carson was built during the Civil War. The fort was originally built to serve as a hospital for the soldiers. There were many hospitals in the Civil War that served troops and wounded soldiers and was named “Union Army Medical Center”. Today the main hospital facility of fort Carson is still intact and it serves the entire community well. Another fort name associated with the city of Fort Carson was the Battle Creek Post.
The story of fort Carson began when the United States Army purchased land there in 1849. The fort was planned to have an airfield and a small town around it. However, the fort was never used as an airfield or a town center and was only a storage area. In the early years of the fort, the Army practiced using the fort as a storage space for many items. In the later years the city of Fort Carson became a port for wagons, steamboat launches and even a jail.
The original plan of building an airfield and a town was never completed. As the Civil War drew to a close, the Army needed a large area for a hospital. They needed a large town so they could have a large hospital that had a strong structure to withstand large numbers of casualties. To build the fort, two fences were constructed and placed on the southwest and northwest corners of the fort.
Today, the fort is active duty U.S. military facility housing troops from all parts of the world. A paved military parking lot sits between the two fences. There are several buildings and acres of land. The fort has a gate and parking area, a paved square-shaped runway, a dirt foundation, buildings on both sides of the runway and a fence surrounding the inside of the fort.
The soil of the fort Carson area has since been turned over to the city of Pueblo and is used to develop housing projects for the local citizens. Although the original Fort Carson homes are fine examples of colonial or old style homes, most of the houses today are either frame or flat designs with wide doorways and verandas. The new homes are constructed of reinforced concrete and are painted a white color. Visitors to the fort can tour the interior of the fort or take a train ride to Pueblo. There are many historic sites in Pueblo and several major highways make traveling to the city easy.
